Living the Change Before You Feel Ready

“It’s hard to see what’s available to us until we start living the change we are hoping to see.”
LeighAnn Ricci, RN NC-BC

For most of my life, I believed confidence was the prerequisite for a changed life.

I thought I knew I needed to feel chosen before I stepped forward.
I thought I knew I needed to feel capable before I tried.
I thought I knew I needed to feel confident before I said yes.

But as a Christian faith and breakthrough coach I have learned that has never been how breakthrough actually happens.

If I’m honest, every true breakthrough I’ve experienced came before I felt confident – not after.  In fact, it was always other people who nudged, encouraged, and motivated me to act on growth – not my own ambition.  It’s time to start listening to those nudges and start living in the confidence, before you feel it.

Breakthrough Comes First.  Confidence Follows.

When I look back at the moments that changed me most, they were rarely marked by certainty.  Instead, they were marked by discomfort – and that’s a sobering reality.

Yes, there was imposter syndrome and fear.  There was the quiet voice in my head that said things like, “Who do you think you are?”

And for a long time, I misread those signs as evidence I was in over my head.

I thought self-doubt meant I was failing and that fear meant I should stop and retreat to safety – and for many years, thats exactly what I did!

What I’ve come to understand is this: breakthroughs often attract battles.

When you’re on the edge of something new, something aligned, something God-breathed – and I’m speaking from lived experience here, resistance shows up as proof YOU ARE CLOSE!

“For a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.”
1 Corinthians 16:9 (ESV)

Don’t Wait to Feel What You’re Called to Live

Here’s what I know now — and what I wish someone had told me sooner:

➡ Don’t wait until you feel chosen to know you are chosen.
➡ Don’t wait until you feel the calling to trust that God has already called you to more.
➡ Don’t wait until you feel capable to begin stretching into new capabilities.

God does not call the confident.
He forms confidence in those who say yes in faith.

Scripture reminds us:

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit.”
John 15:16 (NIV)

And:

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.”
Philippians 1:6 (NIV)

Don’t confuse confidence with the starting line when it’s actually obedience.  Let obedience be your starting point.

Faith Is Learned in Motion

For me, faith has felt a lot like riding a bike.  At first, it feels wobbly and unnatural – very vulnerable to falling.

But the more you move FORWARD, the more balance comes.  The more steps you take, the more normal faith begins to feel.

“We live by faith, not by sight.”
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)

If you’ve been stuck for a while, consider this gentle reframe:

What if your discomfort isn’t evidence of failure but evidence that you’re standing at the edge of something meaningful?

Don’t Waste This Moment

This moment — the one where you feel stretched, uncertain, maybe even a little afraid — is not something to rush past or numb out.  I’m nudging you to lean into it.  I’m encouraging you not to waste it.

You were made for this.
You were made chosen.
You were made called.
And in Christ, you are being made capable.

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
— Philippians 4:13 (NIV)

Thanks for being here!
From your coach,  LeighAnn
